From Two to Ten in Just Weeks: How Lean Solutions is Scaling Pentagon Freight Services’ Satellite Team
At Lean Solutions Group, we have worked hard for over ten years to create a process that ensures our clients scale their teams efficiently and obtain the productivity and quality levels they seek when partnering with us.
We talked to Farrah Scott, Operations Support Manager, and Aaron Turner, Continuous Improvement Manager for Pentagon Freight Services, a freight forwarding and logistics company with over 50 years in the industry.
During our interview, we learned more about Pentagon’s experience while partnering with Lean Solutions Group, how they started, how many team members they have, positions, the hiring process, and much more.
Here are some of the highlights of our conversation!
What has your experience been like with Lean Solutions Group?
Farrah Scott: Our experience with Lean Solutions has been amazing. We started with three employees. Two weeks later we hired four more, and now we have eight. Working on number nine and ten.
What are some of the positions you’ve hired with Lean Solutions?
Farrah Scott: We have a variety of tasks that we’ve hired for, from accounts receivables to account payables, track and trace, and MR PO entry is what we are currently tracking and moving towards that direction.
What have the hiring and onboarding processes been like?
Farrah Scott: The onboarding and hiring process with Lean Solutions Group has been very seamless. We get our resumes very quickly. Within a couple of weeks, we narrow down who we want to interview. Interviews are set up usually between 24 and 48 hours, we make our selections, and within a few days, the employees are ready to come in and go to work. They are very knowledgeable about what we’re looking for. And what’s most impressive is that they all have done research on our company when we interview them, and they have questions for me in regard to our company. So, it’s nice to know that they’ve done, the individuals have done their research beforehand. We’ve had no problems with the onboarding process.
How has Lean Solutions impacted your business?
Aaron Turner: Lean Solutions has positively impacted our business. Allowing us to maintain our key performance indicators, KPIs, and allowing us to meet our customers’ goals and their expectations. More specifically with calls and productivity. Working with Lean Solutions we’ve been able to hire less people without sacrificing productivity.
Do you consider Lean Solutions and Pentagon to be in complete strategic alignment?
Farrah Scott: The strategic alignment between Lean Solutions and Pentagon the biggest part has been on the IT side. Their IT team has worked directly with our IT team making sure that their computers are set up, that they have all of the software that we require to do the functions, as well as making sure that the safety of our security firewall is in place, there’s no debit breaches. Any time we’ve had issues they’ve quickly responded and addressed them. It has been a very good process.
Tell us about your experience in Guatemala
Farrah Scott: My experience here in Guatemala has been absolutely incredible. I had never travelled outside of the U.S. prior to coming here so it was eye-opening. The people, not just the staff here, the people outside of Lean Solutions have been very humbling, very polite. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is incredible, the weather, I don’t want to go back home because the weather is wonderful. The sites we’ve seen and the culture that’s here is great.
Aaron Turner: I’ve traveled all over the world but never to Central America. Here in Guatemala, the people are very friendly, very kind, the staff here at Lean Solutions has made this feel like a second home. The weather is not my favorite part, it’s a little bit too chilly, but I still love it. Beautiful views, great food, and just great people.
Would you recommend Lean Solutions Group?
Farrah Scott: I would definitely recommend Lean Solutions to any other company, especially if you’re looking to improve productivity, communications, KPIs. The partnership we have here has been incredible and it would be very beneficial to other companies.
We love having the opportunity to speak to our clients and get to know their experiences while nearshoring or offshoring their teams. Having satisfied clients is the work of our over ten years within the industry and our willingness to always improve our services to ensure we meet each of our customers’ needs.
Thank you to Farrah and Aaron from Pentagon for taking the time to talk to us about their experience with Lean and we hope to continue growing their satellite team in Guatemala.
